Well, made my first wreath ever! Always wanted to use the little acc. on wreaths. Now I just need to figure out how to attach real plants to it.
Michael’s got lots of silk flowers on sale right now. Go to http://weeklyad.michaels.com/ for their coupons. If you want to buy the little lobster or sea snail in photo, please call 626-664-7520 or e-mail smallweeds@verizon.net

Adorn your little gardens with a little tree
Catlin Elm, Cotoneaster (picture), Serrisa (with white or pink blooms and OK indoor), Caprosa, Boxwood and Alpine mint boosh are all great choices.
Don’t limit yourself
When searching for containers, look beyond the regular clay pots. A Lion Paw seashell, drawer, bucket, bird cage and even a craft pumpkin are all possible candidates.
When searching for inspirations, check out homes & gardens publications as well as your own neighborhood. Whether you’re making a nook of a garden or a world under the sea, all you need is a little know-how and lots of imagination.
Go ahead, play like you’ve never played before!

A Fun Fund-raising!
Last Mother's Day weekend I participated in a fund-raising event for FilBarkada. It’s a non-profit organization, composed of employees from Southern California Edison, that raises money for MY REFUGE HOUSE, a haven for victims of sex trafficking. 24 miniature gardens were made by kids, teenagers, young adults, moms and dads. Most of them had no prior gardening experience but you wouldn’t have guessed it by looking at the results.
“It was a fun and relaxing gardening experience!” Said Freya N. the event organizer. “It was a LOT of fun! My daughter wants to do it again for her 11th bday party next spring!”

Rambling on roses
Roses are beautiful but they’re not very interesting without companion plants...
•
I’m not a big fan of rose gardens. Touring a rose-only garden is like eating a chunck of meat without vegetable or a heap of pasta with only tomato sauce. More is not necessarily better,
just more to be bored with!
•
Floribunda roses are my favorite. Grandiflora & tea are nice but the giant blooms often look sloppy and the canes of tea are too stiff to be graceful.
•
Don’t ever give me a single long stem rose for I'll consider you unimaginative and cheap!
